Nathan Lane: A Tribute to Danny Kaye
EVENING AT POPS welcomes special guest Nathan Lane for its third new show of the season on Thursday, July 15 at 8pm (check local listings). Lauded for his Broadway roles in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Love! Valor! Compassion!, Lane has also won critical acclaim for his work in Hollywood films and television, including a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in The Birdcage and a Daytime Emmy Award for his work as the voice of "Timon" in Disney's The Lion King's Timon and Pumbaa. (Lane voiced the same role in the original hit movie, The Lion King.) Backed by the Boston Pops Orchestra, the star of stage, screen, and television puts on quite a show to honor the musical genius of Danny Kaye. The evening's extravaganza comes complete with costume changes and numbers from Hans Christian Andersen, The Court Jester, Straw Hat Review, Five Pennies, and Mommy, Gimme A Drinka Water.
