Program 2102 -- Rhythm Is Our Business
Airto Moreira, The Flying Karamazov Brothers, cast members from Bring In 'Da Noise, Bring In 'Da Funk (Encore)

EVENING AT POPS presents an evening of fascinatin' rhythm when Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops Orchestra explore the propulsive energy of the beat. Lockhart keeps time while dodging the airborne instruments of The Flying Karamazov Brothers, the juggling/comedy troupe whose gravity-defying "Suite in Three Movements (and Four Dimensions)" is not to be missed. Cast members from the Tony Award-winning Broadway hit Bring In 'Da Noise, Bring In 'Da Funk also join the Pops when the riveting Baakari Wilder -- one of the show's key tap dancers -- takes the stage with "panhandlers" Jared Crawford and Raymond King, percussionists who turn ordinary pots and pans into an extraordinary musical experience. The evening concludes with Brazilian percussionist Airto Moreira's world broadcast premiere performance of Patrick Hollenbeck's "Pela Floresta" ("For the Forest"), a piece inspired by rainforest activist Chico Mendes.
