Teaching Math A Video Library, 9-12

Produced by the Educational Programming Department

Part of the Annenberg/CPB Collection
Closed-captioned for the hearing impaired
Funded by the Annenberg/CPB Project

Students working Based on curriculum standards developed by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, WGBH has created a series of videotapes featuring grades 9-12 teachers and students in unscripted classrooms to illustrate both the content and process of mathematics instruction. The video library captures classroom examples of the many ways teachers nationwide are implementing the NCTM standards, and shows how students are affected by their teaching.

The library includes six 10 to 20-minute video segments that cover each of the NCTM content standards for these grade levels. The tapes also demonstrate the NCTM process standards how students solve problems, communicate about mathematics, reason, and make connections to mathematical ideas.

The library is accompanied by an extensive resource guide, providing video overviews, topics for discussions, and suggested pre-service and in-service workshop activities.

The library is intended for use in college and university teacher development programs as well as in state, local, and county settings.

Educators may order a preview video or the library from:
