Workplace Culture
WGBH values each staff member and the distinct expertise and perspective she or he contributes to the creativity and originality that are WGBH hallmarks. 'GBHers are talented individuals (meet some!) who thrive in a challenging and fast-paced workplace. We stay ahead of the pack by being a leader in educational programming and emerging technologies. It is this goal of excellence in everything we do that sets us apart.
WGBH enriches people's lives through programs and services that educate, inspire, and entertain and foster citizenship and culture, the joy of learning, and the power of diverse perspectives. We're dedicated to expanding media access to people with hearing or vision loss. A commitment to these public service ideals starts right here in our work environment. WGBH strives to provide employees access to opportunities for growth and advancement, and to enhance and expand our ability to hire, retain, develop, and promote a diverse workforce.
WGBH employees work hard and expect the best, but we also make time to learn from each other and grow as a community. Each month, we gather to screen previews of upcoming programs and hear news about our industry, the funding that keeps WGBH thriving, and our latest awards. A weekly newsletter and employee intranet keep us connected on a regular basis. 'GBH staffers share interests in everything from a softball team to a recycling committee to knitting, yoga, and skiing groups. We even have our own WGBH house band! Our Parents' Grapevine helps the parents and grandparents among us exchange tips on family-care issues, and an informal group brings gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender 'GBHers together.
It's this interesting mix behind the scenes that helps WGBH's programs and projects serve our wide-ranging and ever-changing audience!
