How do we learn? Does each child process information differently? And more important, why is my child having difficulty learning...and how can
I help?
WGBH's Misunderstood Minds delves into the answers to these questions and the world of learning problems, following five families over a three-year period as they try to solve the mysteries of their children's learning diffculties. This ambitious project includes a TV program, a 22-videotape library for parents and professionals, and an extensive Web site with a range of resources to help parents of children with learning differences.
Realizing that a huge part of the struggle for parents is finding support and problem-solving strategies, the Misunderstood Minds Web site serves as a platform for a nationwide dialogue on how to best manage "misunderstood" minds. In addition, the 22-videotape library provides in-depth strategies for helping children be more successful in school. "Learning problems affect one in every five American children," says Michele Korf, executive director of Educational Programming and Outreach. "Awareness and understanding are key. WGBH is empowering parents to help their children become successful learners."
