This work was probably created in the mid-to late-1970's at WGBH and was broadcast as part of "Artist's Showcase."
Only a single 3/4" copy of this work appears to exist.
Gerd Stern's "Teleportraits" looks at parenting and the ties that bind families, through a series of interviews. A father and son, a mother with her son and daughter, and a couple with a new baby respond to questions that have been edited out of the finished work. Their responses are punctuated by moments of silence. The imagery has been manipulated significantly so that faces appear to be saturated with color or doubled. No credit information accompanies this work.
