In "Quidditas" Frank Gilette turns an eye to the landscape of Massachusetts, examining seven unique natural environments. Presented in seven distinct sections, the visual details of a pond, a lake, scrub pines, a salt marsh, tidal flats, dunes, and the ocean are presented. The surface of water is a recurring image from scene to scene. Repeatedly, the camera focuses on a fixed close-up and then zooms out to reveal the larger setting. The natural sounds of each environment -- chirping birds and lapping waves -- provide the score.
