Background:
This work was created by D'Agostino with the assistance of WGBU-TV in Bowling Green, Ohio, and acquired by the Workshop for broadcast as part of "Artist's Showcase."

Scope:
Betacam SP preservation master, a VHS screening copy, and a D3 preservation master have been created from the 3/4" tape.

The title of this work refers to both the concept of a "croak or trifle" in Joyce's Finnegan's Wake, and to the phrase's use by physicists, where it refers to elemental particles of nature. D'Agostino juxtaposes text from St. Augustine, Gregory Bateson, and television news reports against the sounds and images of the underground tunnels of Wright State University in Ohio. A blind man describes his experience navigating his way through the tunnels. Handball players are pitted against one another.
