Background:
Mark Allen and Jack Pines assisted with the technical direction and videosynthesis. The work was broadcast as part of the "Artist's Showcase" series.
Scope:
"Primordial Soup" was mastered with a piece called "A Color Piece for Television" on tapes labeled with the title of the former work. These include a 2" master, a Betacam SP preservation master, and a VHS screening copy.In this image-processed work, vibrant color is contrasted with black and white. Twig- and branch-like images appear to dance, slowly turning. Three-dimensionality is implied by the movement of "objects" in space. The work is approximately ten minutes in length.
Electronic sound and music provide the score. Wind and water sounds are included. The soundtrack was composed by Bill Gangi.
