Scope:
Includes multiple 2" masters, Betacam SP masters, and VHS and 3/4" screening copies. Some of these tapes were originally labeled "Mass. Dance Showcase," which may account for some of the duplication. A black-and-white contact sheet documents the shoot for some of Nancy Mason's introductions. It is a compilation of segments of site-specific dance works created in the Boston area mainly by local choreographers. The work is narrated by Nancy Mason, who was the New TV Workshop's Dance Coordinator at the time of production. She introduces each segment in or near the area where it was filmed.
Works featured include Talley Beatty's upbeat dance across city streets,"Cityscape"; Melinda Atwood's re-creation of the Charleston, "High Hot Moons"; Ruth Wheeler's nature study, "As Quiet As..."; Martha Gray's moody "Images Diffused by Time" (referred to here as "Out of Time"); and Louis Falco's meditation on class struggle, "Collisions."
