Background:
The work was broadcast as part of the WNET "American Playhouse" series "Generation of Leaves." As a rock retelling of the story of Jesus, the work was a precursor to classics of that "genre," such as "Godspell" and "Jesus Christ Superstar."

Scope:
Includes double- and single-reel 2" masters of the work. Preservation masters are forthcoming.

This work has not been screened, since the masters were identified as part of the Rockefeller Artists-in-Television project at a late date in the project. It is a "contemporary rock translation of the passion play." -- New Television Workshop Collection documentation.
