"A portrait of the Dutch composer Louis Andriessen, whose compositional style is inspired by the paintings of Piet Mondrian. The video artists divide the screen into related geometric forms, [further mirroring this style]." -- Press release.

Louis Andriessen is interviewed about the development of his four-part opera, "De Stijl" (Matter). A dancing couple is shown (posing as Irene and Vernon Castle) with the actual score to the work in the background. Andriessen is seen driving a car and at an outdoor picnic, where he speaks in his native tongue.

"De Stijl" is seen in concert at Sprague Memorial Hall at Yale University.
