Bob's Master
Copyright Date:
1978
Copyright Holder:
Bob Burns
Artist:
Burns, Bob
Extent:
1 videocassette of 1 (28:40 min.) ; sd., col. and b&w
Background:
Post production was completed at Synapse. The work was acquired by the Workshop for broadcast as part of "Artist's Showcase."
Scope:
Includes a single 3/4" copy of the work.In this jumble of images we see the reflection of dancing lights in some sort of liquid, which is revealed to be the contents of a coffee cup; a couple traveling downstream in a canoe; a tepee raising; a band playing in a parade at a Disney-themed amusement park; differing analyses of beauty contests; and a viewer giving conflicting reactions to the Burns work. The larger narrative and the connections suggested by the juxtaposition of these images are left largely to the viewer.
In a song that accompanies the credits, a man sings, "I'm a video artist, babe."
