Background:
The Workshop created several shows that were broadcast on WGBH without being a part of a series sponsored specifically by the Workshop. Additionally, they were commissioned to create shows showcasing video art for national broadcast and created several shows in collaboration with existing series at other stations, such as WNET's "American Playhouse." This practice continued over the years.

Scope:
Includes primarily video materials, mostly finished programs, relating to specials and fills created by the Workshop. Grouped here are works that were created to be broadcast at WGBH without the affiliation of any single series; works that were created on a one-time (or near one-time) basis for series at other stations; and fillers created specifically for broadcast between other shows. Several WNET coproductions are included in this group. Some additional fillers created for the "Artists on Artists"and "Spaces Between"projects have been grouped with "Artist's Showcase"material, as most of it was eventually broadcast as part of that series. Works created for the series "Alive From Off Center"and "Visions"have been grouped separately, due to their number.
